Have you noticed all of those school supplies in the middle of the aisles at all of the local grocery and department stores, or know parents who are ecstatic for next week? Most of you know that our local Bedford & Franklin County schools start back on Monday. But, that does not mean the end of summer for our season here at Smith Mountain Lake. Many northern schools, where an abundance of our tourists come from won’t start back to school until after Labor Day.
That means Smith Mountain Lake will still continue to see an influx of tourists over the next few weeks. What a perfect time to enjoy the lake. The crisp mornings will start our days and end with hot steamy nights. There will continue to be many things to do around the lake. Our local Wallers on the Water & Mango’s Barn and Grill will continue to hold live music on the weekends. And our lake will gear up for the Wine Festival being held next month which as always, will be sure to draw a large number of vacationers to the area.
