Here are just few of the fun events going on in May in and around Smith Mountain Lake.
🎸 Common Ground, an award-winning bluegrass band, will perform on May 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. The Smith Mountain Arts Council is hosting the event at its Coffeehouse Celebrity Room at 1100 Celebration Ave. in Downtown Moneta. Tickets are $10 for SMAC members and $15 for non-members. Get details here.
🌴 The SML Steel Drum and Marimbas bands of Smith Mountain Lake will perform an Island Music Extravaganza on May 21 from 2-5 p.m. at EastLake Community Church. All proceeds will benefit the capital fund drive for the SML Center’s “Grand Plan” to purchase the vacant Grand Furniture showroom at Westlake and convert it to a center for arts, education, entertainment and private events.
🃏 The Tom Maynard Memorial Poker Run, a fundraiser for local charities, is slated for May 21 at various points around Smith Mountain Lake. Come take a look at some of the most awe-inspiring boats from up and down the East Coast!
⭐ Bridgewater Marina and Boat Rentals will host a celebration on June 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate donating more than $100,000 to Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia over the past 5 years through its “Feed the Fish for Make-A-Wish” program.
