In the past, Franklin County property owners would receive an annual bill in October with the full amount of the taxes for all their real estate holdings due on Dec. 5 (or the next business day if that fell on a weekend or other non-business day).
Beginning this year, Franklin County will bill real estate taxes twice a year with the annual amount divided into two equal installment payments.
When are Franklin County real estate taxes due?
Starting in 2022, 50% of your annual Franklin County real estate taxes will be due on June 5 and the other 50% on Dec 5.
Be on the lookout in the late April for your first tax bill and make plans to pay it promptly. If it is not paid by the due date, penalty and interest will apply. Franklin County says the bill we be mailed at least 30 days in advance of the due date.
If you prefer, you can pay the full year’s tax amount when you pay in June. You can also make a series of prepayments anytime throughout the year. Simply write your account number in the memo section of your check and make a note that it is a prepayment.
